The Africa Cup of Nations returns to East Africa for the first time in fifty-one years, 19 June to 17 July 2027. Twende 27 is planning small-group trips through the whole arc of it: city stays, a Maasai Mara safari, Zanzibar. Led by the local diaspora. Stone Town to the sandbanks
Spice-route lanes and carved doors in the old town, dinner on a rooftop above the harbour, then a private catamaran out to water that turns four shades of blue. The tournament has not started, and the trip is already unforgettable. The night before kick-off, we cross to the mainland.
The opening whistle
The ferry cuts in from the island as Dar fills with flags. Oceanfront residences on the Masaki peninsula, opening week in a city that has waited fifty-one years for this, then the waterfront until the city gives in.
Migration season, July
Kilimanjaro out of the window as you fly north, then the Maasai Mara at the height of the great migration. A five-star lodge with an infinity pool over the plains, or a celebrated luxury camp if you would rather sleep under canvas. Private chef, dawn drives, a million wildebeest, and no crowds. Two days that reset everything before the football turns serious.
Semi-final week · Nairobi
Back to the capital as the tournament sharpens to a point. A penthouse in Westlands, rooftop dinners, the city's best rooms with your table already held, then the city itself as the semi-finals arrive.
Full time
A rooftop gathering in whichever city CAF chooses for the final, and ninety minutes that might run to a hundred and twenty, might go to penalties, might become history. Whoever lifts it, you were in East Africa for it, fifty-one years in the making. Then the closing party, and we do not do last calls.
What the trip is really about
Anyone can book a hotel and a driver. What you cannot find online is a trip where nothing is your problem. No maps app, no haggling a taxi, no wondering whether a place is safe or any good, no queue, no logistics, no language you do not speak. You land, and you enjoy. Everything else is handled by licensed local operators and people who live here. That is the real luxury: not just the finer things, but never having to think about a single one of them.

How this works
Twende 27 is at waitlist stage, led by the East African diaspora in the UK, and the company is being registered. We are not a tour operator and we will never hold your money. When trips open, you book and pay licensed operators in each host country directly, under their licence and their terms. We introduce you, plan the trip with you and stay with you through it. If an operator pays us a referral fee, we will tell you.

CAF releases AFCON tickets close to the tournament, and for the last edition official hospitality opened only about two months before kick-off. As of late September 2026 we found no announcement of a ticketing partner or hospitality provider for 2027. Anyone promising guaranteed tickets now is selling something that does not exist yet. Twende 27 holds no allocation, sells no tickets and never bundles one into a trip. Buy tickets only through CAF's official channels when they open. Your trip is the experience around the tournament.
Today, honestly, we are a waitlist, and the company is being registered. We are not a tour operator and we will never hold your money. When trips open you book and pay a licensed operator directly, and before you pay we tell you exactly what protects that payment. You will always be able to speak with us by video before you commit to anything.
Trips are planned around cities, not fixtures. Qualifying ends on 30 March 2027 and the final draw follows; CAF has not yet set its date. After the draw we help you move your city legs to follow your team, subject to what the operators can offer.
No flights are included, and that is deliberate. You book every flight in your own name, long-haul and internal, so you keep your miles, your airline and your consumer protection. We tell you exactly what to book. Opening Week: in and out of Dar es Salaam (DAR) or Zanzibar (ZNZ). Finals Week: fly into Nairobi (NBO) and home from the city that hosts the final, an open-jaw ticket we spell out once CAF confirms the venue.
Trips are planned around private chauffeured vehicles, a host with each group, and the premier districts of each city, with security available on matchdays or all week through the local operator. We will ask every traveller to carry travel insurance with flying-doctor evacuation cover. Read the UK Foreign Office travel advice for each country before you book.
