Host nation · Uganda

Uganda: Kampala, and the source of it all.

Uganda is the third host, and the one most visitors know least. That is exactly why having someone on the ground matters here.

Kampala

Kampala is Uganda's capital and the base for the Ugandan leg of the tournament, with the Mandela Stadium the venue put forward. Final allocation rests with CAF.

A Kampala matchday weekend pairs the football with the Kololo nightlife, which is the part a visitor will not find alone.

It is a city of hills and of late evenings, and it rewards arriving with someone who knows it.

Jinja and the source of the Nile

Jinja, a short hop from Kampala, is where the Nile leaves Lake Victoria. It is the source, and the centre of Uganda's white-water rafting.

It works as a day out from the capital rather than a separate leg of the trip.

For anyone who grew up hearing about the Nile, standing at the point it begins tends to land harder than expected.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the gorilla-trekking destination, and permits are the whole constraint - they are limited and they go early.

This is the one place our own network genuinely helps: securing permits is where a local relationship beats a booking form.

It needs several days rather than an afternoon, so it belongs either side of the football, not squeezed between matches.

What is real today

We are a waitlist. The company is being registered, and nothing goes on sale until it is registered and the correct UK consumer travel protection is in place.

We hold no ticket allocation and make no ticket claims.

What we do have is people on the ground across the host countries, which is the part that cannot be arranged late.
